Who Are We?
Welcome to Overeaters Anonymous (OA). OA is a fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength, and hope are recovering from compulsive eating and compulsive food behaviors by working the Twelve Steps of Recovery.
No Opinion on Outside Issues
OA is not affiliated with any public or private organization, political movement, ideology, or religious
doctrine; we take no position on outside issues. Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive eating and to carry the message of recovery through the Twelve Steps of OA to those who still suffer.
NOT a diet club
In OA we have no program of diets and exercise, no scales, no magic pills. What we do have to offer is far greater than any of these things—a fellowship in which we find and share the healing ability of a higher power and loving community.
No Dues or Fees
There are no dues or fees for members; we are fully self-supporting through our own contributions, neither soliciting nor accepting outside donations. OA is not affiliated with any public or private organization, political movement, ideology, or religious doctrine; we take no position on outside issues. Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive eating and to carry the message of recovery through the Twelve Steps of OA to those who still suffer.
We welcome everyone who is willing to stop eating compulsively. OA members are men and women from around the world who have been overweight, morbidly obese, anorexic, bulimic or even at a normal weight, but have been hopelessly unable to control their addictive food behaviors. If you have tried to achieve a healthy body weight through many methods, only to fail repeatedly, or if you are unable to freely live your life due to your obsession with food and body weight, you are welcome in OA.
